Details
This painting was inspired by my artist residency in Edward James Surreal Garden called Las Pozas Xilitla Mexico. I was in the middle of my post graduate diploma studying the traces of Edward James art in this extraordinary place. My work achieved the Chairman’s Prize. I have been reflecting on the life during Covid19 and remember the extraordinary like I have had as a woman traveling solo to strange and remote places. Today this is not possible and one questions the new limits we are under. Surrealism surfaced between two world wars. It makes me question how we will move forward. The intensity of the paint surface reflects the tangled and intense emotions that I feel and remember today. This painting has a frame measuring 15”w x17”h
